Photo Essay: Protesting settlements in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan

This afternoon, Palestinians and Israelis protested an ELAD conference in the disputed East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan. The organizers of the protest wanted to confront the conference members with information about Silwan and the difficult reality that continued Israeli settlement in the neighborhood has created for the Palestinian residents of the city. Israeli border police and special “Yasma” units repeatedly attacked protesters. The result was six Israelis arrested and a number of minor injuries. The conference continued as planned.
