Microsoft has developed a customized version of its cloud platform for Unit 8200, the Israeli army’s elite cyber warfare squad, which is housing audio files of millions of calls by Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank — information that has been used to plan deadly airstrikes and shape military operations, Yuval Abraham revealed in a joint investigation by +972 Magazine, Local Call, and the Guardian.

On Monday, just a week after fatally shooting Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen, Israeli settler Yinon Levi was back at the scene of the crime in the Palestinian village of Umm Al-Khair in the occupied West Bank. Meanwhile, Sahar Vardi and Basel Adra reported (originally published in Local Call) that Israel had detained 20 of the village’s men in nightly raids and was refusing to release Hathaleen’s body for burial, with Umm Al-Khair’s women launching a hunger strike to demand his return. By Thursday, Israel finally allowed Hathaleen to be buried in Umm Al-Khair — only to disrupt his funeral with checkpoints and restrictions, as Oren Ziv depicted in a photo essay (originally published in Local Call).

A new wave of Palestinian popular struggle has taken root in recent weeks, with protests and hunger strikes from the 1948 territories to the occupied West Bank. Amid growing outrage over Gaza, Awad Abdelfattah argued, this grassroots mobilization marks a renewed Palestinian movement determined to bridge division and sustain resistance.

And Magnus Fitz wrote about Norway’s Oil Fund, the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund — and Europe’s biggest investor in companies complicit in Israeli occupation and genocide. Responding to sustained pressure from civil society, the Norwegian government announced a review of its investments this week, which could be a major step on the road to divestment.
