A classified Israeli army database indicates that the vast majority of the 6,000 Palestinians who have been arrested in Gaza and held in Israeli detention are civilians, Yuval Abraham revealed in a joint investigation with Local Call and the Guardian. Testimonies from former Palestinian detainees and Israeli soldiers who served in detention facilities further indicate that Israel has knowingly abducted civilians en masse and held them for long periods in appalling conditions.

Alice Austin reported from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, where for four days in late August, Gazan culture took center stage. “Welcome to the Fringe, Palestine,” a mini-festival within the festval, provided a rare space amid the genocide for Palestinian artists to connect, heal, and resist at one of the UK’s leading celebrations of culture.

And on Monday, +972 Magazine joined over 250 media organizations in a global appeal for the protection of Palestinian journalists in Gaza. Launched by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the appeal calls on international actors to defend Palestinian reporters and force Israel to open Gaza to foreign press.
