At the end of April, Israel released Ali Al-Samoudi, a veteran Palestinian journalist from Jenin, after a year in administrative detention. Basel Adra spoke with Al-Samoudi and other journalists held without charge in Israeli jails, who described beatings, starvation, isolation, and threats meant to force them into silence. 

Illy Pe’ery revealed that Israel’s defense establishment is training soldiers and other defense officials to conduct psychological operations designed to “influence public consciousness” in Israel and abroad. The existence of this curriculum is based on a leaked Defense Ministry tender published last July, and obtained by the Israeli investigative outlet The Hottest Place in Hell.

And Ahmed Moor wrote about boycott strategy and the effort to publish Sally Rooney’s latest novel in Hebrew. For him, boycott exists for one reason — Palestine’s liberation from Zionism — and translating novels for Israelis lacks a clear theory of action to help deliver that goal.
