Helena Zeweri is assistant professor of Global Studies at the University of Virginia. She received her Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Rice University and master’s in Near Eastern Studies and Anthropology from New York University and The New School. Helena’s research centers on refugee mobilities and border control policies, migrant women’s activism, and global humanitarianism, with a focus on the United States, Australia, and the Afghan diaspora.
