Sofia Fani Gutman is a researcher and photojournalist working between Palestine and New York, having trained as an architect at The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture — The Cooper Union, focusing on national identity and spatial injustice. She is the recipient of numerous research awards, including the Benjamin Menschel Fellowship, for her work “Tracing a Dispersed Homeland,” questioning the validity of the nation-state as an imagined political form. She also worked with The Logische Phantasie Lab, conducting “The Azolla Biofiltration Initiative: Decentralized Solutions for Water Scarcity.” As a photojournalist, their work has been featured in +972 Magazine, The Guardian, The New Arab, Truthout, Yesh Din, Palestine Chronicle, B’Tselem, and more.
