Tala Shurrab was born and raised in Gaza, Palestine. In 2014, she earned a scholarship with the YES Program to study in the United States for a year, and she left when Israel’s military assault on Gaza that year ended. That experience was full of nightmares, and seeking help in the U.S. sparked her interest in psychology. Shurrab was then awarded the MEPI Tomorrow’s Leaders scholarship to pursue her undergraduate studies at the Lebanese American University, where she recently graduated with a BA in Psychology. She has also received a studentship to pursue a Master’s in Educational Psychology at the University of Cambridge. For Shurrab, this academic journey is a steppingstone toward accomplishing her ultimate goal, which is to practice educational psychologist in Palestine.
